AIDS, in particular, is at risk of spreading rapidly.<\/li>\n<li>Among the communicable diseases listed\u2014AIDS, syphilis, leprosy, malaria and tuberculosis\u2014there is still no cure for AIDS, while effective treatments are available for the other four diseases.<\/li>\n<li>The key is to detect patients early and provide timely treatment, thereby interrupting transmission within families and the wider community.<\/li>\n<li>For this reason, the Department of Health regards extensive public education and awareness campaigns as the most effective \u201cvaccine\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>AIDS therefore remains the most dangerous disease, followed by tuberculosis, because the progression of AIDS can make patients more susceptible to tuberculosis.<\/li>\n<li>In Vietnam, pulmonary tuberculosis remains a serious and widespread communicable disease.<\/li>\n<li>In addition to the central hospital, the city has established an extensive healthcare network comprising:\n<ul>\n<li>33 regional general clinics;<\/li>\n<li>10 district hospitals; and<\/li>\n<li>282 ward and commune health stations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Tuberculosis medication is provided free of charge, and outpatient treatment has been decentralized to local healthcare facilities.
